1. David frequently said, “Protect me HaShem, because You’re my only place to hide.”

א.  מִכְתָּם לְדָוִד, שָׁמְרֵנִי אֵל כִּי–חָסִיתִי בָךְ

2. “HaShem, You really don’t need to do this good just for me.”

ב.  אָמַרְתְּ לַיהוָה אֲדֹנָי אָתָּה, טוֹבָתִי בַּל–עָלֶיךָ

3. I didn’t earn this. I get everything I need because of my holy and deceased ancestors who were enormous in their fear of God.

ג.  לִקְדוֹשִׁים אֲשֶׁר–בָּאָרֶץ הֵמָּה,  וְאַדִּירֵי כָּל–חֶפְצִי–בָם

4. Regarding those who eagerly serve other gods: Make them more and more miserable! I would never pour drinks of blood to those gods; I wouldn’t even mention their names on my lips.

ד. יִרְבּוּ עַצְּבוֹתָם אַחֵר מָהָרוּ, בַּל–אַסִּיךְ נִסְכֵּיהֶם מִדָּם, וּבַל–אֶשָּׂא אֶת–שְׁמוֹתָם עַל–שְׂפָתָי

5. My good fortune is from You HaShem, You direct my hands to choose what’s best for me.

ה.  יְהוָה מְנָת–חֶלְקִי וְכוֹסִי, אַתָּה תּוֹמִיךְ גּוֹרָלִי

​

6. My destiny and heritage are so delightful and beautiful!

ו.  חֲבָלִים נָפְלוּ לִי בַּנְּעִמִים, אַף–נַחֲלָת שָׁפְרָה עָלָי

 

7. And so I bless You HaShem because You advise me correctly, and You guide me at night, with peace of mind, to follow Your advice.

ז.  אֲבָרֵךְ–אֶת–יְהוָה אֲשֶׁר יְעָצָנִי, אַף–לֵילוֹת יִסְּרוּנִי כִלְיוֹתָי

 

8. In everything I do I am in awe of You HaShem; You’re always by my side.

ח.  שִׁוִּיתִי יְהוָה לְנֶגְדִּי תָמִיד, כִּי מִימִינִי בַּל–אֶמּוֹט

 

9. That’s why my heart and soul celebrate, and after I die I know my body will rest peacefully.

ט.  לָכֵן שָׂמַח לִבִּי וַיָּגֶל כְּבוֹדִי, אַף–בְּשָׂרִי יִשְׁכֹּן לָבֶטַח

 

10. Because You won’t abandon me in the grave or allow me to be destroyed.

י.  כִּי לֹא–תַעֲזֹב נַפְשִׁי לִשְׁאוֹל, לֹא–תִתֵּן חֲסִידְךָ לִרְאוֹת שָׁחַת

 

11. Teach me how to go through life, so that when I finally see Your face, my joy and pleasure will never end.

יא.  תּוֹדִיעֵנִי אֹרַח חַיִּים, שֹׂבַע שְׂמָחוֹת אֶת–פָּנֶיךָ, נְעִמוֹת בִּימִינְךָ נֶצַח
